Wednesday August 20, 2014 Hamilton MT

OK, I have heard from alot of our friends who are wondering what happened to the Eaton's!? No posting for awhile because we are having too much fun with Jill and Frank in Hamilton, MT. This was our destination all along. Not sure what we are going to do from here. But we made it! Below is the start of our week long loop in Idaho with Jill and Frank. Enjoy! I'm trying to figure out how to put a map on here. Coming soon! In the meantime, here's the start of the EAC + Prochazka adventure in wild Idaho..........................more later..................

Greetings from Hamilton MT! We have had quite an adventure since my last post. Just to recap............in my last post we stopped in Rexburg for the night, just to get out of the rain. The next day we had a short day. The plan was to meet Jill and Frank, our old friends from Circleville who moved to Hamilton MT last fall. We are going to spend a week riding with them in Idaho. The route began an ended in Arco, ID. We would be passing through the towns of Mackay, Challis, Stanley, Smiley Creek, and Hailey ID. Jill and Frank are leaving Hamilton MT about the same time we are leaving Rexburg. Hopefully we will meet along the road somewhere and then drive on to Arco, ID.

Like clockwork, just like we planned we met them about the time we stopped to eat lunch, in Mud Lake. It was so good to see them! We drove out this way last winter on our version of the winter Eaton Adventure Skiing (Cycling) trip. They live in the Bitterroot Valley just south of Missoula. We are excited to do some riding and exploring in their new world. Maybe its time for the Eaton's to make a more permament move to the west. Then we wouldn't have to drive across Kansas again!

We drove with them to the KOA in Arco to start their great adventure. Jill and Frank have been officiailly inducted into the EAC club. There is very specific crieteria for admission in this elite club. We rode in rain most of the day we met them so we hoped the rain was coming to an end. It's not looking good though!

We woke up to a very rainy day in  Arco. Luckily we had a short day to Mackay planned. We started out and within 4.2 miles Jill and a flat tire. Lucky we had mechanic Hap along. He had it fixed in no time and we were on our way. At 8 miles out we got a phone call from the KOA. They wanted to know if we could come back and move the van (Jill and Frank had left theirs at the KOA) off the grass. Sure we said, no problem! Why would that be a problem? It's only 8 miles, uphill with a headwind in the rain. Of course we can ride back and move the van. Not a problem....... Hap and I turned around and rode back while Jill and Frank continued on. We got back to the KOA, moved the van, smiled and said no problem, have a great day! Turned back around and rode on toward Mackay.

In Mackay we found them at the local restaurant. Perfect timing! Food sounded good. We had reservations at the Bear Inn, since it was still raining. As soon as we checked in though, the rain stopped and the sun came out. Go figure! We had a great dinner at the inn/bar. Nice little hotel here in the middle of nowhere!
